Our Mission
Each instructor is a graduate of my method, which stems from a background of physical therapy, athletic performance, Pilates, and Titleist Golf Performance institute certifications. I believe it’s not what you do to treat the body but how you do it. - Mary Catherine Whitley, Owner of Center G Pilates
synergy between performance + restoration
Our brain/body connection works very much like a mathematical equation meaning that there is an order of operations to get to the correct answer. You must follow a consistent pattern of Motor Learning to reprogram faulty movement. Our mind/body order of operation for Motor Learning looks something like this: Position, Mobility, then Stability. What does that mean? In traditional PT, personal training, and some Pilates practices, the practitioner doesn’t address your postural alignment first. They jump right into strengthening. BUT, if you don’t address the postural alignment issues before the strength training, the result will be a reinforcement of the faulty alignment. Thus, the client/patient will feel better for a few hours from just moving, but ultimately the underlying cause of the injury was never addressed.
The takeaway message is that treatment order matters!!! A good order of operation results in restoring normal animalistic movement that is pain-free and lasts beyond a day or 2. Often, the set changes are permanent with simple maintenance. Excellent results also stem from great detective work, so there is a significant focus on identifying the cause of the injury or performance loss and not just addressing the symptoms. Often, the site of the symptoms is simply the weakest link in the chain. If your practitioner fails to identify the cause of your performance loss, they will give you the wrong prescription.
Quality of movement matters so we want each client to receive the best instruction possible.
